Biosketch

Niky obtained a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (Argentina) after doing internships working on plant biology and small RNAs and a final thesis in molecular mechanisms of breast cancer development and methastasis. In 2019 she moved to Belgium to work on her PhD at ULB Center for Diabetes Research. She worked on monogenic type of diabetes caused by mutations in a tRNA modifying enzyme. She focused on uncovering the implications of a tRNA-derived fragments (a new class of non-coding RNA) on pancreatic beta-cell demise. After finishing the PhD in Universite Libre de Bruxelles (2024), she joined the MDV team in France as a postdoctoral researcher to work on the consequences of viral infection in neurodevelopmental disorders.

Outside the lab, Niky is passionate about outdoor activities, hiking, climbing and traveling to new places.
