2nd year Ph.D. student
Biosketch
Jules is a former medical student from the Université de Lyon, where he joined the MD-PhD program during his second year and obtained a Master 1 in molecular and cellular biology alongside his first three years of medical studies. He is also a student of the Ecole de l’INSERM Lilianne Bettencourt (EdILB), a national MD-PhD program.
During his training, Jules completed two three-months internships in the labs of Cyrille Mathieu (CIRI, Lyon) and Daniel Dunia (INFINITY, Toulouse). In these projects, he worked respectively on neuroinvasive variants of the measles virus using hamster organotypic cerebellar slices, and on the interactome of the BoDV-1 nucleoprotein.
Jules then completed a Master 2 in fundamental virology at Sorbonne Université/Institut Pasteur. His Master 2 internship was carried out in Raphael Gaudin’s team at IRIM, where he studied the impact of bunyaviruses on neuronal activity using human post-mortem organotypic brain slices and 2D neuronal models. After obtaining a CBS2 doctoral grant, Jules continued his journey in the MDV team, as a PhD student, focusing on the molecular remodeling of synapses associated with WNV infection, and its functional consequences.
